You know actor Rob Lowe. But do you know fan-of-Scouting Rob Lowe?
Lowe, whose highly successful film and television career has spanned four decades, tweeted and posted to Facebook a photo of himself with a group of Boy Scouts. The photo was taken Sept. 13 in Malibu, Calif., at the Ride to the Flags VIII event in support of Wounded Warriors. (Thanks to commenter Brian G. for pointing that out.)
His caption: “With the #boyscouts. They make the future look good. #men #service #honor”
Here’s the tweet as it appeared — and below it the BSA’s excellent response. I’ve also included Lowe’s Facebook post.
And how did the BSA, on its official Twitter channel, reply? With this perfect response:
That, of course, is a reference to this:
He also posted the same message to Facebook:
Why this matters
It’s pretty cool that Lowe, a celebrity with more than 1 million Twitter followers whose credits include The Outsiders, St. Elmo’s Fire, Tommy Boy, The West Wing and Parks and Recreation would say something nice about the Scouts. And it’s cool that he did so spontaneously.
What troop is that?
Does anyone know what troop (or troops) Lowe is seen with here? If so, I’d love to hear from you.
