Camps / Facilities

The Ohio River Valley Council owns and operates two unique scouting properties.

Sandscrest Scout Camp is also home to the Ohio River Valley Council offices. Located just minutes out of Wheeling we feature a full office and scout shop on this small piece of West Virginia’s beautiful panhandle. The camp features a training facility with 2 bunkhouses for about 18 in each as well as a dining room. There are several medium sized pavilions near the training center itself as well as Adirondack type cabins for camping near the lake. We have a small gun / archery range available as well as a catch and release fishing pond. Hiking trails around the property will give you access to many of nature’s flora and fauna as well as our own “Fort Irish” and an unusual wooden “tipi” up on the Mesa.

Fort Steuben Scout Reservation is on Clendening Lake but is nestled in between Piedmont and Tappan Lakes located in southwestern Harrison County Ohio in Washington and Nottingham townships The Buckeye Trail is nearby and Tappan Lake has a lot of trails as well. We offer a full summer camp experience here for scouts from the area. With access to the Muskingum Watershed’s Lake Clendening you will not find a better waterfront experience. We would like to invite you to experience the pristine shoreline, excellent fishing and quiet evenings that Clendening Lake has to offer. As the largest undeveloped lake in Ohio, Clendening offers a true back-to- nature experience, far from the crowds, yet close to home. It’s a great place for boating, fishing, paddle sports hiking, and many more outdoor activities.
